Blackout Blinds to Minimise Light from the Sun and Street Lighting
Velux manufacture their own range of blackout skylight roof blinds specifically for Velux branded roof windows. Velux blinds are great quality products and since they are made by the window manufacturer themselves, are guaranteed to fit perfectly to all Velux branded skylight windows.
Available as a manual or remote controlled blind, blackout options in a good range of fabric colours and subtle fabric patterns.
Blackout blinds include aluminium trim, to match the aluminium operating bar which comes as standard on Velux windows.
Perfect for bedrooms, the blackout performance is maximised with the use of made to measure aluminium side channels which ensure there is an absolute minimum of light penetration around the edge of the blind when the unit is in the closed position.
The blind can be positioned fully open, fully closed, or at any point in between, allowing some light into the room if required.
In addition, modern blackout technology includes an aluminium foiled backing on the blind fabric, ensuring complete solar protection and reducing heat loss through the blind (or in summer minimising the heat entering the room from the outside).
Velux Duo - Combination Pleated Blind and Blackout Fabric
The new duo blind is another great product from Velux. Currently only available in a few colours, this blind incorporates both pleated blind technology with a blackout blind in the same unit.
Providing the best of both worlds, this therefore gives the option for complete darkness at nights coupled with diffused natural lighting during the day through the pleated blind layer. Alternative, a combination of both blind layers can be used to block out the strongest rays while still allowing a pleasant level of light into a room.
